West Palm Beach, FL (July, 2017) – The West Palm Beach Housing Authority will celebrate the opening of the Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior Complex at 820 Grant Street on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  A tour of the 99 unit senior apartment complex, featuring the free standing club house, fitness center and activity rooms, will include light refreshments and conversations with those who worked long and hard to bring this facility to reality.

“The Dunbar site is hallowed ground, and has served a public purpose for over 77 years” said Laurel Robinson, housing authority Executive Director.  “It is now entering a new phase of life, which will reignite the pride from the past as well as bring a new vitality to the future.”  The 17 acre site will also be home to Silver Palm Place, a 120 unit family development and Royal Palm Place, 125 units of senior housing with a preference for veterans.  The property is designed as a walkable space, re-establishing its connectivity to the Coleman Park community.   The Silver Palm complex is scheduled to open approximately October 1, 2017; Royal Palm Place Apartments will break ground before the end of the year.  Future plans also include headquarters for “The Housing Center of the Palm Beaches” an umbrella designation for multiple housing authority activities.

The West Palm Beach Housing Authority welcomes the community to join in the celebration of the new Dunbar Communities and looks forward to their continued success.
